CURRICULUM VITAE

Theodore_Eliades Dr. Tali Chackartchi graduated dentistry in 2002 (DMD). Completed a post-graduate program in Periodontology at the Department of Periodontology, Hadassah & Hebrew University Faculty of Dental Medicine in 2008. She became a senior physician in the department in the same year, performing research in the field of guided implantology, biological and clinical implications of the combined Ortho-Perio treatment, and soft tissue management around teeth and implants. In 2009 graduated from the program of implant reconstructive dentistry in the G.Niznick Oral Implant Center, and became an EFP accredited specialist in periodontology. Following her specialty training, established a private clinic in Tel-Aviv dedicated to periodontology and implant dentistry. Dr.Chackartchi shares her clinical experience as an international speaker and conducts hands on courses on advanced surgical techniques in bone augmentation, soft tissue handling and advanced digital applications in implant dentistry. Dr.Chackartchi was a board member of the Specialists forum during 2016-2018. Currently a member of the Post Graduate examination committee. Member of scientific committees of several national and international symposiums and a Past President of the Israeli Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration.

ABSTRACT

Orthodontic treatment in the presence of an advanced periodontal disease-Minimizing the risks

Orthodontic tooth movement is frequent in children and young adults. The age of onset of an aggressive periodontal disease is similar to the age in which children will undergo orthodontic treatment. In recent years we witness a raising number in adult patients seeking dental care and periodontal treatment for esthetic reasons. Among which, patients with an advanced periodontal disease who might present a pathological tooth movement secondary to inflammation and bone loss. It is an undisputable fact that sound periodontal health is a prerequisite for successful orthodontic therapy, orthodontic treatment must be performed under stable and sound periodontal health alongside a strict hygiene regimen, otherwise a fast-periodontal breakdown will be provoked. This lecture will enlighten the population in risk for periodontal deterioration during orthodontic treatment, the biological limitation and clinical risks when considering orthodontic treatment in the periodontally compromised patient. While proposing work protocols to overcome and prevent possible periodontal deterioration and biological side effects.
