CURRICULUM VITAE

Nick Silikas is a Professor in Oral Biomaterials Sciences and the Dean of the Dental School at the University of Manchester. He has worked within the field of dental biomaterials since 1996, generating more than 170 papers, which have received over 10,000 citations and has an h index of 59 (google scholar). His research interests involve surface characterisation and nanocomposites used in dentistry as restorative dental materials. In particular, nano-particles influence on aesthetics and surface properties. This work has been extended to dental implants and formation of nanoparticles on their surface that is a critical factor for their osseointegration and clinical success. He has been elected as a Fellow of The Academy of Dental Materials, FADM, since 2004, and currently is the Transactions Editor for the Academy of Dental Materials (ADM) [2014-present]. Nick has an extended editorial activity as the Editor for “Dental Materials“ ranked No 1 Journal for Dental Materials, the Associate Editor for Dental Materials for the “European Journal of Oral Sciences” and as Editorial Board Member in several other Journals.
